All over the world, Muslims are now preparing for the holy month of Ramadan. Perhaps the most important month of the Islamic year, Ramadan is a unique opportunity for Muslims to be at one with God, to fast, pray, and spend time with family and friends. Before the war, Ramadan was a time of great joy and anticipation for Syrian Muslim families. However, after seven years of horrific conflict, this Ramadan will, unfortunately, be yet another extremely difficult month for civilians who are struggling to survive, especially for those with fresh displacement wounds, the families of Eastern Ghouta. Thousands of families have been evacuated from Eastern Ghouta after 7 years of siege and bombardment. The families are scattered over northern Syria, some are living in tents, some in collective centers, others are renting with other families.
