I Born under an olive tree

Since the beginning of March 2019, the Syrian regime and his allies started escalating their military operations and bombing on the liberated areas of Idleb Governorate and its adjacent countryside.

More than 48 facilities were targeted with bombing, a total of 261 civilians were killed as a result of this offensive with 63 children among the victims.

More than 200,000 IDPs fled to the cities and towns of Idlib and Aleppo governorates and to the camps of northern Syria during the period between April 1 till May 15, 2019.

Hundreds of families have shelter only under trees and others still staying outdoors.

Our team documented 15 women who have been giving birth under the trees.

One of these women is Surya who fled from southern of Idleb to the north. She was pregnant but as a result of fear and horror, she gave birth to a girl before ending the nine months. She gave birth under trees with no assistants.

Another woman, called Om Muhammad, gave birth to twins of boys under trees. She had nothing to protect her twins. One of her boys sent to the incubator of one of hospitals that is still working there.

“This newborn has Blood Inflammation ”, a doctor told us.
