The extreme living conditions in #EasternGhouta caused by violence, siege, and lack of humanitarian access has caused food prices to skyrocket. Nursing moms are exhausted and can’t breastfeed anymore because they are not getting enough nutrients themselves. A recent survey by UNICEF showed that 11.9% of children under 5 have acute malnutrition.
Kids Paradise has collaborated with a local initiative in Ghouta that are making infant formula locally from sugar, toasted ground-rise and a group of essential vitamins and minerals necessary for healthy bones development. We have identified the neediest of families for the first round of distributions that will reach 1,600 infants aged between 6 to 24 months by mid-February.
